The Y2K aesthetic has been reigning for what feels like forever: whether it's dangerously tiny crop tops, sparkle makeup or ever more inventive cutouts. But while the trend is undeniably glam and injects a good deal of fun into dressing up, there are a few complaints about the look. Among them? The fact that people - unless they happened to be pop stars - weren't really dressing like that in the 2000s.
In fact, you'll find that rather than corsets and low-slung leather trousers, a lot of us out there were rocking a more lowkey look - particularly in the second half of the decade. Namely, bootcut denim jeans, tank tops, hoodies, branded A&F tees (if we had the cash) and, of course, Uggs or any other variation of sheepskin boot we could get our hands on. Think less Euphoria and more Laguna Beach and then you get the picture.
It's rare that celebs truly make a reference to this era but the queen of keeping it real, Khloé Kardashian, has finally given a nod to the *real* 2000s trends all while somehow making them super glam (it's a gift). Not only has she rocked distressed, light-wash jeans of late, she's recently given us the holy grail of aughts fashion: a teensy, tiny denim mini.
Yep, the fashion icon just took to Instagram to share a wow pic of herself in a tiny cropped lightwash denim jacket with matching itsty-bitsy mini and the most mega pair of chestnut thigh-high stiletto boots from her Good American label.
It's a look, it's a vibe and it's more legitimately aughts than anything we've seen on our feeds in a while...
