Kevin Smith Perfectly Explains What’s Wrong With Batman V Superman

You might have heard that quite a few people had quite a few problems with ‘Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice’. So much so that it currently has the lowly score of just 29% on Rotten Tomatoes.

There has been some backlash to this critical response, with those that enjoyed it insisting journalists have been overly negative, and some even bizarrely suggesting that Marvel paid them to write poor reviews.

But one huge comic-book fan whose opinion is always listened to is Kevin Smith, and the writer and director of ‘Clerks’, ‘Chasing Amy’, and ‘Dogma’ has now taken to his Hollywood Babble-On podcast to explain exactly what he didn’t like about ‘Dawn Of Justice’.

“The movie I felt like didn’t really have a heart,” Kevin Smith explained. “It was certainly f****** humourless, there was nothing funny going on in that world whatsoever, but it had lots of spectacle.”

Kevin Smith made sure to praise Zack Snyder for that aspect of ‘Batman V Superman’, adding, “Boy, he knows how to like compose a frame and how to setup a shot.”

But Smith insisted that wasn’t enough, remarking, “Beautiful visual stylist but you need more than just the pictures, you like characterisation and these characters seemed off character, particularly Superman.”

Zack Snyder’s treatment of Superman has been criticised ever since ‘Man Of Steel’, with diehard fans of the iconic character insisting that all of the joy and positivity has been drained out from Krypton’s most famous son, rendering these interpretations mute.

If you’ve not seen ‘Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice’ already you can do so now, as the blockbuster behemoth is in cinemas across the country.
