Mabli Hall: Woman jailed for four years for causing eight-month-old baby's death
A woman has been sentenced to four years in prison for causing the death of an eight-month-old baby by dangerous driving. Bridget Curtis, 71, had previously pleaded guilty to causing the death of Mabli Cariad Hall outside Withybush Hospital in Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire. Mabli was airlifted to the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff after she was hit by a white BMW on Wednesday 21 June 2023.

Dead sea turtles keep washing ashore on India's east coast and environmentalists and authorities are trying frantically to stop the number of 600 dead from getting even higher. The high number of turtle deaths in Chennai in southern India is most likely due to overfishing just off the coast that may be accidentally trapping the turtles in nets, experts say, sparking discussion and anger in the region over how the deaths could be avoided. Government officials on and off the coast say they have intensified their monitoring of illegal fishing since high amounts of dead turtles started washing up onshore.

Barclays proposes higher bonuses, lower fixed pay for CEO, Sky News reports
The lender has written to investors to propose capping CEO CS Venkatakrishnan's maximum earnings at just over 14 million pounds ($17.3 million), compared with 9.9 million pounds in 2023. Under the plan, the banker could see his annual fixed pay nearly halved from around 3 million pounds in 2023 to 1.6 million pounds, according to Sky News. Barclays declined to supply a copy of the shareholder letter to Reuters.
