At this point, Kelly Ripa is mostly known for being a host of Live With Kelly and Mark or from her years as a soap star on All My Children. But once upon a time, she was trying to nab the "weird girl" roles in movies — and consistently losing out to a familiar actress.
"I lost to Parker Posey all the time," Ripa said on a new episode of her SiriusXM podcast, Let's Talk Off Camera. "Parker Posey and I were like the two weird girls. We would audition for the weird girl roles, and she always got the role."
Ripa didn't mention any specific parts she lost, but she could be referring to numerous ones considering all the nutty characters Posey played in the '90s onward. Revered indie directors cast her in films ranging from Dazed and Confused, Party Girl, and Kicking and Screaming to Henry Fool and The Doom Generation, not to mention her regular appearances in Christopher Guest comedies like Waiting for Guffman.

"I would walk in," Ripa continued, "and if I would see her, I'd be like, 'Shit, Parker Posey's here again, and now she's gonna get it and I'm just gonna walk away.'"
Representatives for Ripa and Posey did not immediately respond to EW's request for comment.
The Live host did discuss some of her other auditions, though. "I auditioned for every Spike Lee film," she said in the episode, in which her children Lola and Michael Consuelos asked her questions. "Nobody said no to me more than Spike. It's really true. Spike was like… he would just like peek his head and be like, 'No.' And then that was it. We'll talk about it now. He's like, 'Remember when I didn't cast you in anything?' I'm like, 'Yes, I do.'"
