Dollar set to pounce on euro if ECB offers dovish guidance
Dollar bulls were ready to pounce on the euro on Thursday should the European Central Bank sound dovish on rates later in the day, given the Federal Reserve had pressed the pause button on its easing cycle overnight. Markets are more than fully priced for the ECB to trim rates by 25 basis points to 2.75% later on Thursday, with even a small chance of 50 basis points given how weak the EU economy is. "The complex economic and political challenges facing the euro area's largest economies increases the onus on the ECB to support growth."

Brazilian and U.S. officials agreed on Wednesday to discuss regularly how Washington will deport migrants from Brazil, as some leaders in Latin America have balked at what they see as poor treatment of their citizens on repatriation flights. Brazil's foreign affairs ministry said in a social media post that the talks will be led by officials from the ministry and the U.S. embassy, after the ministry summoned a senior U.S. diplomat earlier this week over the treatment of recent deportees that local officials condemned as degrading.

Edmonton transit fares increase Feb. 1
Edmonton transit prices are set to increase for the first time since 2021. Starting Feb. 1, fares will increase for most groups. Some of the Increases include Arc single-trip fares going from $2.75 to $3, and cash fares increasing from $3.50 to $3.75. The youth fare age eligibility will also change to 18 years and under. This means riders aged 19 to 24, who were previously eligible for the youth fare, will now have to pay the adult rate.
