KC Sunflower Fest is open for the next three weekends. Here’s what to do, how to get tickets

The colors of Kansas will be on full display at the KC Sunflower Fest. Open on select days from now until Aug. 28, visit the scenery and have some fun with the family.

Located at the KC Pumpkin Patch and right by KC Wine Co. on 13875 S. Gardner Rd. in Olathe, this festival will have everything you need to have a good time.

Planning for this year’s festival started in June. Organizers filled the field with sunflower seeds and irrigated the field to make sure everything grew properly, explained Taylor Roesch, the Event Coordinator for KC Sunflower Fest and KC Wine Co.

After that, it was time to set everything up for the festival. New attractions this year include slides, ziplines and over 50 games for families to enjoy.

“There’s just a lot of fun and outdoor activities to run and get energy out,” Roesch said. “It’s just a good family bonding experience.”

WHAT CAN I DO THERE?

When you’re there, you’ll have plenty to do. The sunflower field will be open for all ticket buyers and you’ll have unlimited access to take all the photos you want. Maybe a barn is more your style — the festival has you covered. This is your chance to get your Instagram ready for fall.

The festival features a live music line up that changes daily. And don’t forget to grab food from a local vendor like Spice Bandit BBQ or Papa Scott’s Street Eats when you’re at the festival.

• High Strikers

• Plinko

• Roller bowlers

• “Konk” the crow

• Human Foosball

With plenty of activities on deck, you’ll be able to tire your child or friends out in no time.

HOW MUCH DO TICKETS COST?

Tickets will cost $11.95 online or $19.95 at the door. A ticket is required to enter the festival and children over the age of 2 must have a ticket. There are also no refunds.

KC Sunflower Fest will be open at these times on these days throughout August:

• Aug. 12: 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.

• Aug. 13: Noon to 8 p.m.

• Aug. 14: Noon to 6 p.m.

• Aug. 19: 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.

• Aug. 20: Noon to 8 p.m.

• Aug. 21: Noon to 6 p.m.

• Aug. 26: 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.

• Aug. 27: Noon to 8 p.m.

• Aug. 28: Noon to 6 p.m.

The times and dates are subject to change because of the sunflower crop’s growth. If the date you bought a ticket for is no longer open, you can use it on any of the other dates listed.
