KC Mavericks update: Three games + off-ice events scheduled for local hockey team

The Kansas City Mavericks minor-league hockey team heads into the second week of the 2021-22 season with a record of 1-1 and several events of interest to fans.

Here’s a brief recap of the past week and the schedule of what’s going on this week for Kansas City’s ECHL team.

Weekend Recap

The Mavericks opened the season on the road in Iowa against the Heartlanders, losing 7-4 Friday night in Coralville, Iowa. The Mavericks turned right around and played host to Iowa Saturday night in the team’s home opener, winning 5-3.

Truman Habitat for Humanity

On Thursday, the Mavericks will be building walls for the Truman Habitat for Humanity Veteran’s Build.

Grand Opening

Andy’s Frozen Custard will celebrate the opening of its Prairiefire store with a “First Scoop” ceremony and ribbon-cutting. Mavericks owner Lamar Hunt, Jr., members of the Mavs’ front-office staff and select Mavericks players will be in attendance.

Upcoming Games

The Mavericks host the Tulsa Oilers on Wednesday and the Wheeling Nailers on Friday, then head to Tulsa for a game against the Oilers on Saturday.

  • On Friday, any youth in their sports gear, jersey or team T-shirt can get one free ticket at the Cable Dahmer Arena box office.
