KC Mavericks will dress like Chewbacca for special Star Wars Night game on Saturday

These are contentious times with political fighting seemingly at an all-time high.

But if there is one thing we can all agree on, it’s this: Chewbacca is a great “Star Wars” character. The lovable Wookie was a wing man to Han Solo, helped rebuild C-3PO and, of course, fought the Empire.

That could explain why the Kansas City Mavericks hockey team will be dressing like Chewbacca for Saturday night’s game against the Tulsa Oilers at Cable Dahmer Arena. The puck drops at 7:05 p.m.

The Chewbacca jerseys will be worn as part of Star Wars Night, and the Mavericks said tickets are limited.

The Chewbacca jerseys will be auctioned after the game on the Dash Auction app, the team said.

Fans will be able to take photos with characters from the movie franchise, and the first 3,200 spectators will receive a light saber. Just don’t expect it to be as dangerous as the one wielded by Darth Vader.

Here is a look at the special uniforms the Mavericks players will be wearing.
