Kaya Scodelario lands next movie role following The Gentlemen success

The Gentlemen star Kaya Scodelario has landed her next movie role following the Netflix show's recent success.

The actor will join Freaked's Alex Winter, Booksmart's Billie Lourd, Frozen's Josh Gad and Barry's Anthony Carrigan in Winter's upcoming film Adulthood (via Deadline).

The cast have already begun filming in Ottawa, though details of their roles are currently being kept under wraps.

"Adulthood is about a sister and brother, Megan and Noah, who are barely hanging on in present-day America, like all of us," reads the official synopsis for the film.

"When they discover a dead body, long buried in their parents' basement, the siblings are pulled back to the hometown they ran away from and into a rabbit hole of crime and murder."

As well as starring in the film, Winter will direct and produce the "darkly comic" film. Scott Kroopf, Lisa Wolofsky, Russell Hollander, Michael Cho, Tim Lee, Danny Roberts, H.S. Naji and Jackie Langelier are also down to produce.

Executive producers include Connie Tavel, Mimi Rode and Thorsten Schumacher, while novelist Michael M.B. Galvin is on board to write the script.

Scodelario recently played drug baron Susie Glass in Guy Ritchie's The Gentlemen. The eight-part series, which is based on the 2019 film of the same name, also starred Theo James, Joely Richardson, Giancarlo Esposito, Vinnie Jones and Ray Winstone.

Speaking exclusively to Digital Spy, Scodelario previously opened up about the show's "unique" filming process, which often involved Ritchie making major edits to scenes at short notice.

"He changes everything at the last minute and he kind of has a clear vision of what he wants it to be when he knows, when it's there," she explained.

"When you say the right thing, he's like, 'Great, that's what it is'. But it's quite a bit of a journey to find that and that's actually quite interesting."

Adulthood doesn't have a release date yet. The Gentlemen is available to stream on Netflix.
