Kawhi Leonard has already become the third-leading scorer in Raptors playoff history

It’s nearly impossible to put into words what Kawhi Leonard has been able to do for the Toronto Raptors since joining the team last summer. The 27-year-old superstar has helped the franchise advance further than they ever have in an NBA postseason.

The man has hit the most clutch of shots, shutdown some of the best offensive players in the Eastern Conference and racked up plenty of points in the process.

Like, a lot of points.

With his 20-foot jumper early in the 3rd quarter to get the Raptors back within eight points during Game 6 of the East Finals against the Milwaukee Bucks at Scotiabank Arena on Saturday night, he moved into the bronze-medal spot amongst the Raptors’ all-time playoff scorers with 546 points at the time.

By vaulting over Jonas Valanciunas, Leonard now only sits behind Kyle Lowry’s 1,143 playoff points as a Raptor and DeMar DeRozan’s 1,117.

This is the part of the article where I remind you that Leonard has been able to accomplish the feat in only 18 playoff contests while sporting a Raptors’ jersey. The guy has basically become the equivalent of Jeopardy’s James Holzhauer when it comes to making history in no time flat!

Through his first three NBA postseason series with Toronto, he’s collected 30 or more points 11 times.

I’m no mathematician, but that’s a pretty good way to quickly climb up playoff scoring lists within organizations that have had little notable postseason success.

Leonard finished with a game-high 27 points in the Raptors’ 100-94 victory to clinch the best-of-seven series. As a result, he’ll enter the NBA Finals against the Golden State Warriors next week with 561 playoff points as a Toronto Raptor.
