Yahoo Movies Kate Middleton Borrowed a Very Special Pair of Earrings from Queen Elizabeth
While the royal family observes a month of formal remembrance for Prince Philip, Kate Middleton and Prince William continue to make appearances with the public. During their most recent outing, Kate wore an all-black outfit that featured a tailored, double-breasted coat with bold gold buttons. Entertainment Tonight reports that the two visited the Air Cadets 282 East Ham Squadron, which has a special meaning to Kate, who became patron of the Air Cadets back in 2015 after Philip stepped away from his royal duties. She even became an Honorary Air Commandant. Philip was officially the Air Commodore-in-Chief of the Air Training Corps.

Though the look was somber, Kate wore her signature black pumps and kept her hair and makeup simple. Her coat had a collarless silhouette, square shoulders, and fell right below her knees. It's a favorite shape for Kate, who has similar coats in red and camel. At the event, Kate tried her hand at a flight simulator and the squadron took a moment to pay tribute to Prince Philip.

People notes that Kate gave a nod to Queen Elizabeth. To finish off her all-black look, Kate wore a pair of diamond and pearl earrings borrowed from the queen. Elizabeth debuted the jewels in 1977 at her silver jubilee and Kate has worn the earrings on multiple occasions.
The appearance comes just days after Philip's funeral. Though only a small number of family members attended the service, it was broadcast worldwide and Queen Elizabeth issued a rare public statement thanking everyone for their thoughts.
"While as a family we are in a period of great sadness, it has been a comfort to us all to see and to hear the tributes paid to my husband, from those within the United Kingdom, the Commonwealth and around the world," she wrote. "My family and I would like to thank you all for the support and kindness shown to us in recent days. We have been deeply touched, and continue to be reminded that Philip had such an extraordinary impact on countless people throughout his life."
