Kate Ferdinand has shared that her stepchildren have asked her and husband Rio when they will have a baby.
The former TOWIE star, who is step-parent to Lorenz, 12, Tate, 10, and Tia, eight, appeared on This Morning today where she discussed whether children were on the cards for her after being asked by the hosts about expanding her family.
“How did I know you were going to ask that question?” she laughed. “Right now it’s a bit of a mad house still, we’re just enjoying being married but maybe, potentially.”
The 28-year-old went on to say how her step-children had broached the subject of a potential sibling at her September wedding to the 41-year-old former footballer.
“In one of their [wedding] speeches the last thing that was said was, ‘And when’s the baby?’ It was really funny,” Kate said.
Rio’s first wife Rebecca Ellison sadly died from breast cancer in 2015 after initially being diagnosed in 2013.
She and Rio had been together for 15 years before her death aged 34.
Although Kate has a good relationship with her step-children, she did admit that becoming a step-mum was “really hard” to begin with.
“I think it’s been really hard. We’ve been on a complete journey, the children were obviously grieving, Rio was grieving… but we’re at a really good place now,” she remarked. “We’ve got married, I have the same surname as the kids so that helps.”
Rio’s children were involved in the couple’s wedding day last year, as his sons walked Kate up the aisle, as well as daughter Tia acting as a bridesmaid for the nuptials.
