Karlie Kloss Cut Off Half of Her Custom (aka $$$) Met Gala Gown

At the Met Gala, Karlie Kloss looked like a Grecian goddess in a floor-length Brandon Maxwell gown with a halter neckline and cutouts. Not a design made to dance in, though, it was clear she’d need a different look for the afterparties … or would she?

Instead of changing into an entirely new number like most fellow attendees, Kloss decided to stick with the same piece but jazz it up by cutting off half of it. Seriously, a pair of scissors sliced through the skirt like it wasn’t a custom-made dress worth a few thousand dollars.

“This is a bad idea, or maybe it’s brilliant, I don’t know,” narrated the model as she documented the quick adjustment in a video shared on social media.

But the alteration wasn’t made in haste — or inexpertly, for that matter. Instead, Maxwell himself made the cut. “To drinking and cutting,” the designer and stylist said before completing the job.

While it might seem like a wild decision to just hack off half a dress, it’s clear as to why the 23-year-old model wouldn’t want to make an outfit change. So, instead, she just made it work. Tim Gunn would be proud.
