The Kansas Jayhawks football team is off to a 3-0 start for the second consecutive season for the first time since 1991-92.
If KU beats BYU in Saturday’s Big 12 opener, the Jayhawks will be 4-0 in consecutive seasons for the first time since 1913-15.
Imagine accomplishing a feat that hasn’t happened in over a century. Coach Lance Leipold and quarterback Jalon Daniels are a special combination.
So, enjoy the ride, Jayhawk fans. This season has the makings of a historic one — especially for a program that’s struggled significantly over the past decade.
With that, it’s time for another Kansas Jayhawks Q&A. As always, thank you for the questions!
What are your thoughts on KU already being a 17.5 point underdog next weekend against Texas?
17.5 point spread as of right now seems like a lot, but hey they overcame a 30.5 spread last time they were in Austin, so anything is possible.

I think the spread is too high. UT wins against KU, but it’ll likely be less than 10 points. Some areas have a talent gap, but Kansas’ offensive skill positions allow them a chance for an upset.
If ku beats byu and Texas, will they be ranked in the top 10?

If KU beats BYU and Texas, it’s time to bring out the duckboats. I kid, but that’s a start that nobody outside of the Kansas locker room saw coming.
I believe Kansas would be ranked top 10 in the polls and there’d be an honest discussion about the team winning the Big 12 Conference.
Looks like #kumbb missed on Bethea. Thoughts on other recruits?
— Ellis Lindison (@ELindison) September 21, 2023
Kansas looks to be right in the thick of things with five-star wing Liam McNeeley, who’s cut his list to Indiana and KU. Cooper Flagg, who grew up a Duke fan, looks like a lock for the Blue Devils, but I would not rule out KU and coach Bill Self.
KU is also in the top six for wing Chase McCarthy, so the Jayhawks are heavily involved with multiple top-end players.
Any Arterio updates?

Not at the moment. The Douglas County District Attorney’s office is looking closely at the allegation. From there, the DA will decide whether or not to press charges.
Would you bet your life savings on Mason Fairchild to score a touchdown this week
— Bryson Stricker (@BryBryStrick) September 21, 2023
I would not — because I do not gamble (besides my yearly donations to various fantasy football leagues). This is not gambling advice, but it’s clear Mason Fairchild is one of Daniels’ favorite targets and he’s yet to score a touchdown.
KU loves to use its tight ends, so that touchdown is coming. But I have no idea whether it will be against BYU or another team.
