Kansas Jayhawks move up three spots in AP Top 25; Mizzou, K-State receive votes

Kansas will enter Saturday’s Border War men’s basketball game against Missouri as the No. 6 team in the Associated Press Top 25.

The Tigers, who hold a 9-0 record compared to the Jayhawks’ 8-1 mark, for the second straight week are in the “others receiving votes” category entering the 4:15 p.m. tipoff at Mizzou Arena in Columbia.

The Jayhawks were ranked No. 9 a week ago, while MU was receiving votes.

Houston remains No. 1 and Texas No. 2 in the poll for a second straight week. Virginia is No. 3, followed by Purdue (4), UConn (5), KU (6), Tennessee (7), Alabama (8), Arkansas (9) and Arizona (10).

Auburn is No. 11 followed by Baylor, Maryland, Indiana, Duke in the top 15.

Rounding out the top 25: Kentucky (16), Illinois (17), Gonzaga (18), UCLA (19), Iowa State (20), Creighton (21), San Diego State (22), Mississippi State (23), TCU (24) and Ohio State (25).

Here are the others receiving votes, listed by total points: Iowa 70, Charleston 54, Miami (FL) 29, Virginia Tech 27, Arizona State 20, Utah 16, Wisconsin 16, UNLV 14, Texas Tech 10, West Virginia 8, Marquette 7, Xavier 6, New Mexico 3, Memphis 3, Michigan State 3, Missouri 2, North Carolina 1, Kansas State 1.

That effectively makes Missouri the No. 41 team in the country, while K-State is in at No. 43.
