Kansas City Chiefs’ Chris Jones, Charvarius Ward return to lineup vs. Tennessee Titans

The Chiefs will have two key defensive pieces back in the lineup for Sunday’s game against the Tennessee Titans.

Defensive lineman Chris Jones (wrist) and cornerback Charvarius Ward (quad) entered the weekend designated as questionable on the injury report, but they are active and will see their first action after missing multiple weeks.

Jones, one of the Chiefs’ top defensive players, hasn’t played since Week 4, while Ward is dressed for the first time since Week 2.

The Chiefs need Jones’ ability to flex inside or outside on the field against Titans running back Derrick Henry, the NFL’s leading rusher.

It remains to be seen if Ward returns to the starting lineup, as Rashad Fenton has worked with the first-team unit throughout Ward’s absence. But the Chiefs will have adequate experienced depth available against Titans wide receivers A.J. Brown and Julio Jones.

Wide receiver Tyreek Hill (quad) and guard Joe Thuney (hand) are active, as expected. Hill and Thuney missed practice Wednesday and Thursday, but returned Friday for on-field work.

Chiefs coach Andy Reid said Friday that both players “should be fine” for Sunday’s game.

Linebacker Anthony Hitchens (elbow), fullback Michael Burton (pectoral), center Austin Blythe, guard Laurent Duvernay-Tardif, tackle Prince Tega Wanogho and cornerback DeAndre Baker will not dress.

Hitchens and Burton suffered their respective injuries in Week 6’s win over the Washington Football Team and missed all three days of practice the past week.

For the Titans, defensive back Chris Jackson, tackle Taylor Lewan, wide receiver Chester Rogers, safety Amani Hooker, linebacker Monty Rice, linebacker John Smith and defensive end Amani Bledsoe are inactive.

Wide receiver Julio Jones (hamstring) will dress for today’s game.
