  • The model attends Loewe’s store opening in a lace dress by the Spanish brand.

  • This is the second time that Gerber wore a look from the label this month at a fashion event.

  • Chloë Sevigny, Tessa Thompson, Jodie Comer and more were also in attendance.

Kaia Gerber is a Loewe fan, and she showed that Tuesday night at the Spanish label's store opening in New York. The second-generation model—who noticeably did not walk in the brand’s Spring 2020 show at Paris Fashion Week—came out in a gauzy lace dress, which seemed to be a mixture of a few looks from that collection. The fitted, ankle-grazing outfit featured blouson sleeves, a black silk panel on the hem, button closures down the bodice, a white mini underlay. She paired it with a cerulean tote, gold hoops, and pendant necklace.

This marks the second time that Gerber has worn a Loewe ensemble at a fashion event this month—the first being an embellished bralette and flouncy lace skirt she sported at the 2019 British Fashion Awards in London. Also, there is a clear Spanish element that permeates throughout both looks—think: Francisco Goya’s Charles IV of Spain and His Family and Diego Velázquez’s Las Meninas. These artists, to be sure, were major inspirations for Loewe’s creative director, Jonathan Anderson, when he designed the collection.

Other attendees at the fiesta also dressed the part, including Tessa Thompson, Jodie Comer, Lucy Boyton, and Chloë Sevigny. But where these actresses took a monastic approach, covering themselves up (albeit artfully), Gerber went for a more sultry vibe. With her new pixie cut that she slicked into finger waves, she was definitely the conquistadora of style that night.
