Justine Bateman reacts to internet's fascination over her 'old' face: 'I think I look rad'

Justine Bateman, an actress who starred on the '80s sitcom "Family Ties" as a teenager, is getting candid on aging.

The 57-year-old, who expanded her career to also include directing, writing and producing, opened up in an interview with "60 Minutes Australia," published online March 19, about how she came to realize many people on the internet had a fascination with her appearance.

“I needed to google something to do a little research, and it remind myself of something that happened when I was famous, so I put in my name, googled my name, 'Justine Bateman,' and an autocomplete came up which was ‘looks old,' " she said, adding that she was around 42 at the time.

"I was like, ‘What?’" she continued. "And I looked at the pictures that they had as evidence, and I couldn’t see what they were talking about.”

Bateman also discussed her thoughts on cosmetic procedures, saying she feels "sad" for people who obsess over their looks and are "not just enjoying life."

She added that she thinks cosmetic procedures "would erase" the authority she's gained through the years.

"I like feeling that I am a different person now than I was when I was 20," she said. "I like looking in the mirror and seeing that evidence."

As for other people's opinions of her looks, Bateman said she doesn't care.

"I think I look rad," she continued. "I think my face represents who I am. I like it, and so that's basically the end of the road.”

Bateman also acted on the television shows "Desperate Housewives," "Satisfaction," "Arrested Development," "Psych" and "Californication."
