Justin Bieber made his grand return to the American Music Awards with a medley of three of his recent hits.
On Sunday during the live broadcast, the pop star took to the stage for the first time since 2016 to celebrate the 10th anniversary of his AMAs debut with a special performance featuring "Lonely," "Holy," and his most recent release, "Monster."
Bieber kicked off the awards show with "Lonely" as producer Benny Blanco played the keyboard. Bieber sang the honest lyrics to himself, looking into the mirrors behind him while delivering a raw, stripped-down performance.
Then he moved on to his religious-tinged hit "Holy" as giant pink neon crosses illuminated over him. During the performance, four masked dancers joined him onstage for some energetic choreography, and after they left the stage, drones with pink lights began flying around him.
Bieber concluded his medley as Shawn Mendes appeared, playing the guitar and singing "Monster," his collaboration with Bieber that was released earlier this week. The two pop stars danced around the stage as the screens behind them showed a dark forest.
