Jurassic World Trilogy CONFIRMED By Sequel Director

2015′s ‘Jurassic World’ was a huge summer hit, thanks to director Colin Trevorrow and Hollywood’s latest action hero Chris Pratt, and while a sequel is in the works we now know it’ll be the filling of a trilogy.

According to ‘Jurassic World’s’ sequel helmer J.A. Bayona, Trevorrow’s vision is for a new, coherent trilogy that takes a lot of influence from Steven Spielberg’s movie catalogue, which includes directing ‘Jurassic Park’ and ‘The Lost World: Jurassic Park’ and being exec producer on ‘Jurassic Park III’.

“It’s very interesting. The whole Jurassic World is a trilogy that Colin Trevorrow has envisioned,” said Bayona to LRM.

“We’re writing the second chapter, and it’s very interesting where he’s leading the story. I grew up watching Steven Spielberg movies and I love those movies and the legacy, so it’s a question of being truthful to the legacy and at the same time, bringing new stuff that people will appreciate. We are still six months ahead of shooting, and so far, so good. It’s very exciting right now.”

It’s reassuring to a degree that Bayona and Trevorrow feel so passionately about the original films and the reputation of the franchise. And with this enthusiasm and love for all things ‘Jurassic’, the project is surely in good hands.

However, it’s Bayona’s credentials behind the camera that make the outcome of ‘Jurassic World 2′ so intriguing. With ‘The Orphanage’, TV’s ‘Penny Dreadful’ and most recently ‘A Monster Calls’ to his name - the latter receiving positive reviews of late, we could see a much darker and scarier dino movie than ever before.
