Judd Nelson Accidentally Dressed Just Like His Character From The Breakfast Club

It might have been more than 30 years ago, but inside Judd Nelson is still John Bender from ‘The Breakfast Club’.

And, it would appear, outside too.

The actor, now 56, was snapped out and about in West Hollywood looking startlingly similar to his high school rebel alter ego, with his long grey jacket, boots and baggy trousers.

All that was missing was the air-punch, coupled with Simple Minds’ emotive classic 'Don’t You (Forget About Me)’ blazing in the background.

The movie, released in 1985 and directed by the legendary John Hughes, was perhaps the quintessential 'brat-pack’ movie, alongside the likes of 'St Elmo’s Fire’ and 'Pretty In Pink’.

Nelson was 'the criminal’ John Bender, alongside Molly Ringwald ('the princess’), Emilio Estevez ('the athlete’), Anthony Michael Hall ('the brain’) and Ally Sheedy ('the basket case’), who are all sentenced to a Saturday detention.

Over the space of a day, the students all come to realise they have more in common than they think.

Last year, Ringwald and Sheedy headed to the SXSW Festival in Austin, Texas, for a celebratory 30th anniversary screening of the movie.

“I always loved the script, and I loved the movie, but I never imagined that we would be talking about it 30 years later,” she said.

She told Us Weekly in 2010: “There’s been nothing to replace it. Until something comes along that can hold a candle to these movies, they will continue to be what they are.”
