Jon Jones reacts to Israel Adesanya and UFC 276 main event: ‘This motherf*cker just make a Frozen reference’

Jon Jones tweeted and deleted again.

After his longtime rival Israel Adesanya defeated Jared Cannonier at UFC 276 via unanimous decision to retain the middleweight title, Jones chirped on Twitter before he removed his commentary on a performance he found unimpressive.

'Frozen' under fire

“What the f*ck this motherf*cker just made a Frozen reference with those glossy fingernails lol,” Jones wrote.

Jones referred to the in-cage interview where Adesanya told Joe Rogan he was going to make [autotag]Alex Pereira[/autotag], the next UFC middleweight title challenger, “frozen” like Elsa. The play on words was a reference to the Disney movie “Frozen,” in which the main character is named Elsa.

Praise of Alex Pereira

In a follow-up tweet, Jones praised Pereira, who solidified his spot as the next title challenger with a quick knockout of Sean Strickland on the same UFC 276 main card.

“Bro I just went back and watched Alex P fight!!” Jones wrote. “Yeah I’m riding with him all day. He made it look way too easy. Really hard to believe he was unranked before this fight.”

The fingernails take more heat

Minutes later, Jones circled back to the fingernail insults once again. Adesanya is known for his unique style – including painted fingernails he sported during UFC 276 fight week.

“Bro I can’t stop thinking about this sh*t,” Jones wrote. “How are you going to threaten a guy like Alex with glossy fingernails and a frozen reference. I’m over here scratching my head.”

Jones and Adesanya built a rivalry online and through interviews when they were one weight class apart. Since Jones announced his move to heavyweight and began bulking, the back-and-forth of a potential superfight largely sizzled out prior to Saturday.

Jones' future

While Adesanya has an opponent for his next bout, Jones does not.

UFC president Dana White has mentioned both heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou and former champion Stipe Miocic as potential foes for Jones. It seems like Jones knows about as much as everyone else.

“I don’t know but I’m glad Dana came out and said something,” Jones wrote. “I’m ready, I’ve been ready. Waiting on a date.”

As for what he wants, Jones made it clear.

“At this point I’m looking to fight Stipe, I think it proves more. Fighting a fairly one-dimensional fighter fresh off knee surgery. I don’t know, I believe beating Stipe says more at this point.”
