John Wick 4’s Keanu Reeves pays tribute to co-star Lance Reddick

Keanu Reeves has paid tribute to his John Wick co-star Lance Reddick following his death.

Reddick, also seen in The Wire, returns in the latest chapter of the action franchise as Continental concierge Charon, with the film marking one of his final roles.

The actor passed away of natural causes at the age of 60 on March 17.

"Lance is a very beautiful person and special artist," Reeves told Entertainment Tonight at the John Wick: Chapter 4's Hollywood premiere.

"His grace and dignity, his shining light of character was just something really special," he continued.

"[I am] really grateful I had a chance to know him and work with him over almost ten years."

Reeves and John Wick: Chapter 4 director Chad Stahelski previously released a joint statement remembering Reddick, describing him as "the consummated professional".

"We are deeply saddened and heartbroken at the loss of our beloved friend and colleague Lance Reddick," Reeves and Stahelski said in their statement.

"He was the consummate professional and a joy to work with. Our love and prayers are with his wife Stephanie, his children, family and friends. We dedicate the film to his loving memory. We will miss him dearly."

John Wick's distribution company Lionsgate also released a note honouring Reddick after his passing.

"The world of Wick would not be what it is without Lance Reddick and the unparalleled depth he brought to Charon's humanity and unflappable charisma," the statement read.

"Lance leaves behind an indelible legacy and hugely impressive body of work, but we will remember him as our lovely, joyful friend and Concierge. We're stunned and heartbroken, and our deepest condolences go to his beloved family and his fans all around the world."

Reddick will also posthumously appear as Charon in John Wick's upcoming spinoff film Ballerina, starring Ana de Armas in the titular role.

John Wick: Chapter 4 opens in cinemas on March 24.
