Jim Carrey Mimicking Wolverine Is Simply Glorious

It doesn’t take too much of a stretch to imagine Jim Carrey playing Wolverine.

Sure the actor’s skinny frame would need to bulk up for him to do the character justice, but Carrey has such a chameleon-like presence that he certainly wouldn’t have been fazed if he’d been asked to portray Logan.

On Wednesday night we got a look into what his version of the ‘X-Men’ icon would have looked like when Carrey responded to Hugh Jackman’s impression of the Mask with his own homage to the Australian’s most famous character.

Sublime. Simply sublime. I mean, clearly the knife, fork, spoon and corkscrew each do a sterling job replacing Wolverine’s titanium claws, but I’m personally a big fan of how Carrey moulded his greased up mop into a more exaggerated version of the comic book character’s bouffant. Plus, obviously, the beard is the real topper.

Carrey decided to show the world what he would have been like as Wolverine after Hugh Jackman created a video using DubSmash of him as The Mask. You can click over to the Australian’s Instagram account to check it out.

Clearly, Jackman’s Mask impression needs a little work, as his face didn’t nearly contort enough to rival Carrey’s virtuoso performance. In the end though, despite Carrey’s best efforts, I think every movie fan will agree that neither actors attempt truly comes near the others’ big-screen versions.

While we’re probably never going to see Jim Carrey don the famous Mask again, we’ll see Hugh Jackman’s final performance as Wolverine in the third solo adventure for the character, which will be released on March 3, 2017.
