Yahoo Movies Jerry Seinfeld Drops Big Update and 'Comedians in Cars' Fans Will Be Very Upset

Earlier this month, comedian Jerry Seinfeld sat down with SmartLess podcast hosts Jason Bateman, Sean Hayes and Will Arnett to chat about comedy, cars, and his love of baseball. In the process, though, he shared two major pieces of news — and we have a feeling Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee fans won’t be too thrilled about one of them.
Though not entirely shocking, when asked about what might be next for his hit Netflix show Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee, Jerry made it pretty clear that he's moved on from that project. Though he had hinted
last March that the show may be ending, it sounds definitive that there won't be a 12th installment. The last release of episodes came in July 2019 and featured Eddie Murphy, Seth Rogen, Ricky Gervais, Jamie Foxx and Matthew Broderick.
"No, no, that’s uh — I think I’m going to put that volume on the shelf," he explained. "It was a lot of fun and I got to meet … a lot of those people who I had not met. We’re friends now. It’s amazing what two hours with somebody — you're friends forever after that. It was really great."
But why is Jerry giving up on Comedians in Cars? It sounds like the arduous editing process has something to do with it.
"I know they look very casual and easy but they’re actually a lot of work to make, the editing is very intense, and I don’t know, I feel like I may have done that exploration at this point,” he once shared in a 2020 virtual press conference for his Netflix special 23 Hours To Kill.
As for what Jerry plans to do next, we know that he is set to produce, star and direct the upcoming Netflix movie Unfrosted, which is supposed to be about the creation and history of the Pop Tart. While chatting with Will, Sean and Jason, he dished a bit about where he's currently at with the project.
"I have some meetings about the movie thing," Jerry hinted. "Not yet rolling, early next year we start rolling."
As for his role as director, Jerry joked: "It's a lot of work, which I don't mind the work. But I don't really know what I'm doing."
