Jeremy Sisto Recalls the Heartbreak of Losing 'Titanic' Role to Leonardo DiCaprio

He could’ve been King of the World. Jeremy Sisto was in the running to play Jack Dawson in James Cameron’s 1997 Titanic, but, of course, ultimately lost out to Leonardo DiCaprio.

“That was one of the many, many jobs I didn’t get,” the good-natured Sisto said laughing when asked about the role recently on HuffPo Live. Still, the actor had nothing but praise for Cameron’s ambitious vision: “To be involved with something that had that kind of scope… I was insanely inspired by it, and a little heartbroken by it when the role didn’t come my way.”

Sisto, who’s currently promoting his A&E series The Returned, also mentioned the fact there exists a test screening he did for the film alongside Kate Winslet. “While I was a little embarrassed to reveal one of my many failures in life, at the same time I couldn’t deprive Titanic lovers of seeing that alternate universe,” he said of the clip, which Yahoo Movies debuted in 2012 before it appeared on a special edition Blu-ray.
