'Jeopardy!': Alex Trebek remembered by daughter Nicky on anniversary of cancer revelation

Alex Trebek is being remembered two years after the "Jeopardy!" legend revealed his Stage 4 pancreatic cancer diagnosis in 2019.

Nicky Trebek, Alex's daughter with ex-wife Elaine Trebek Kares, wrote a touching Instagram remembrance on Saturday, with a photo of the two and the hashtag #missingyoueveryday.

"It was 2 years ago today while we were working on the @jeopardy set that my dad bravely stepped out in front of the camera to announce he had been diagnosed with #pancreatic cancer," Nicky wrote. "He brought much-needed awareness to this terrible disease and provided hope to so many struggling."

Trebek, 78 at the time, revealed his diagnosis on the "Jeopardy!" YouTube channel: "I wanted to be the one to pass along this information."

Alex Trebek dies: The 'Jeopardy!' legend, 80, fought pancreatic cancer

"Just like 50,000 other people in the United States each year, this week I was diagnosed with Stage 4 pancreatic cancer," he told fans. "Now normally, the prognosis for this is not very encouraging, but I’m going to fight this, and I’m going to keep working."

Trebek was 80 when he died on Nov. 8, 2020.

"I’m beyond proud of him for his courage and integrity throughout his illness," wrote Nicky, who vowed to continue the fight against the disease by supporting the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network in "their mission to improve patient outcomes."
