We've often been tempted by a change of hairstyle for the holiday season. Whether we lean into rich brunettes or deep auburns as the colder months approach, altering our appearance is part and parcel of the festive cheer.

Jennifer Lopez is invariably a source of inspiration for beauty looks all year round, but her timeless style of sophisticated glamour tends to shine its brightest around the winter party season. Her latest beauty endeavour, however, has tapped into something completely unexpected, with the surprise unveiling of her new pink hair.

Lopez's long-standing hair stylist Chris Appleton shared a picture of the 52-year-old singer and actress on his Instagram account with a full head of vibrant pink hair, alongside the caption: "Pink to make the boys wink".

Lopez paired her candy-toned tresses with neutral make-up to avoid overloading the look, opting for a feline black smokey eye, a nude glossy lip and her trademark bronze contouring.

This isn't the first time Lopez has swapped out her classic blonde highlights for a rosy hue. In October she shared images to her Instagram story of her sporting a very similar vibrant pink wig for a shoot. Whether this time around is another wig or she and Appleton have committed and taken the pink plunge is still up for speculation, but what we do know is that Lopez is making a strong case for the unconventional colour.

The New York-born actress has been making headlines this year following the resurrection of her relationship with fellow actor Ben Affleck, to whom she was previously engaged in 2002. She's also currently busy promoting her new rom-com, Marry Me - in which she stars opposite Owen Wilson - and its accompanying single, On My Way.
