Ever since Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez got together in 2017, people have questioned just why it didn't happen sooner.
They appear to be completely suited to one another. They had similar beginnings, have dominated both of their respective fields (him, baseball, her singing/dancing/acting), both have life experience in the forms of marriage, children and fame and, nowadays, seem totally devoted to each other.
Over the past two and a half years, Rodriguez has proved himself to be an attentive Instagram boyfriend (case in point: the photo below), the two have supported each other at various red carpet events, there's been joint magazine covers and fashion campaigns, their families have been brought together, Rodriguez proposed in March and the couple are planning their nuptials, there's been extravagant presents and a whole lot of adorable things said about each other.
Take a look below at this comment plus every other time the couple have spoke lovingly about one another.
January 2020: Jennifer Lopez Pays Tribute To Alex Rodriguez After Golden Globes
After the couple graced the red carpet together at the first awards show of the season (where Lopez was nominated for a Golden Globe but ultimately lost out to Laura Dern), the Hustlers star thanked her fiancé for always supporting her in a very public #alexappreciationpost on Instagram.
'I cannot even begin to explain what having you by my side means to me... I love riding thru [sic] life with you... my biggest supporter, my rock, my macho, [sic]' Lopez wrote.
The superstar's gushing post came hours after Rodriguez wrote one of his own on Instagram, praising his wife-to-be for all her many talents and crediting her as an inspiration 'for countless musicians, dancers, actresses and performers who have seen and emulate your passion, drive and work ethic to find their own success'.
'To everyone whose lives you enrich daily, you are a champion,' he wrote. 'And don't you ever forget it.'

'I want to,' she said. 'I don't know that it's in God's plan but I would like to try. I'm so open to it!'
The 50-year-old also spoke about the lessons in love she's learned throughout her life, telling the magazine it wasn't until she accepted being single on her own that she found love with the 44-year-old baseball legend.
'I did get into relationships, sometimes the wrong ones for the wrong reasons because I didn't like being alone,' she reflected. 'Now that [fear] is gone and I'm ok on my own.
'When I really figured out you don't need anybody to complete you and you can be happy on your own, the shift happened and all of a sudden I wasn't alone. You do actually find that person.'

Asked about what his fiancé has taught him about living in the public eye by the New York Times Magazine, A-Rod could not have been more complimentary about what he's learned from his wife.
'I’ve never met anyone who’s more honest,' he said. 'She’s so authentic and genuine. It was strange to see someone of such magnitude be so normal, be such a great mother and partner and friend. How can you be like this and then go perform in front of 80,000 people? But that’s her superpower.'

The actress spoke about their matching 'work ethic' but also noticed how their similar backgrounds (Lopez was born in the Bronx to Puerto Rican parents, Rodriguez in the Washington Heights district of Manhattan - before growing up in Miami - to parents from the Dominican Republic) serves as a compatibility factor.
'Both Alex and I are Latino,' she told Red. 'We are both self-made. He was always the hardest working baseball player that was - me, the same. We have that in common. We have the same work ethic. We also appreciate and know that coming from nothing, we always want to try and help and give back and teach our kids that.'

Lopez told the magazine, their ages - and all the different experiences they had - during certain decades in their life brought them together.
'I understand him in a way that I don’t think anyone else could, and he understands me in a way that no one else could ever,' she said. 'In his 20s, he came into big success with the biggest baseball contract [at the time]. I had a number one movie and a number one album and made history. We both had ups and downs and challenges in our 30s, and by our 40s we’d both been through so much. More importantly than anything, we had both done a lot of work on ourselves.'
