Jeffrey Wright has addressed the possibility of returning to the James Bond franchise.

The Westworld actor memorably played 007's American counterpart Felix Leiter (of the CIA) in three films during the Daniel Craig era — most recently in No Time to Die, where Felix seemingly was killed off.

Since Wright was involved in one reboot of Bond with Casino Royale, Deadline questioned whether he would be interested in being part of a reported reboot now that Craig has left the role of 007.

"If there's a 'ghost of Felix Leiter' moment, then I'll certainly consider doing that," Wright quipped. "But, at the same time, I had a great run on those films, together with Daniel, [producers] Barbara Broccoli and Michael Wilson and I'm very happy to let that be."

He added: "I'd never expected to be a part of that franchise. I was an enormous geeky fan of the Bond films as a kid, as many of us were.

"I'm completely satisfied with what we did there. I'm happy to move on and let someone else be part of it."

Wright certainly wasn't the first actor to play Felix, as the role had previously been played by seven different actors between Dr No and Licence to Kill.

Bond enthusiasts continue to speculate on who might replace Daniel Craig, with Game of Thrones' Richard Madden emerging as the latest fan-fave pick.

Producer Michael G Wilson has seemingly ruled out casting too young of an actor, saying the super-spy needs to be "a thirty-something" in order for his backstory to line up.

"We've tried looking at younger people in the past but trying to visualise it doesn't work," Wilson told Deadline last year.

No Time to Die ended with a message that "James Bond will return", but fans are still waiting for more details on when 007 will be back on the big screen.
