Trump, DOGE are trying to breaking through economic 'brick wall'
Mercatus Center Senior Research Fellow Christine McDaniel joins Market Domination Overtime to discuss the US Treasury situation as President Trump seeks to implement widespread government spending cuts across multiple sectors. "Trump campaigned on rooting out fraud and waste. And so to do that, you have to follow the money," McDaniel explains. She points out that Elon Musk's Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) faces significant limitations as they only have read-only access to the systems necessary for conducting a comprehensive review. "This president does seem to be determined to break through that brick wall, and unfortunately, this is what it looks like," McDaniel tells Yahoo Finance. She suggests the process would be more effective if DOGE focused on developing a set of recommendations for government spending initiatives rather than attempting to immediately halt expenditures.
