Japanese single-price discounter Daiso coming to Elk Grove Commons shopping center
Japanese discounter Daiso is coming to Elk Grove. The value store giant is moving into the Elk Grove Commons shopping center, home to Trader Joe’s, Ace Hardware, Home Goods and Kohl’s, among other brands.
Daiso’s “one-price” store concept is global with more than 5,700 stores worldwide including 58 in California. Goods run the gamut from bath and beauty items to clothing, kitchen and home goods to toys; and Japanese goods from lacquerware to tableware and decorations. Daiso’s motto: “Enriching people’s lives with one price.”
“Because it is a single price, you can buy more than usual,” Seiji Yano, Daiso president and representative director, explains in remarks on the Daiso website. “With a wide variety of high quality products, it’s a fun idea.”
An opening date is some time away. Workers on Tuesday were just beginning to lay down flooring for the Elk Grove spot at 9624 Bruceville Road, Suite 109, but Daiso is hiring for sales associates with customer service, stocking, receiving and office experience.
Another 29 U.S. stores are in Nevada, New York, New Jersey, Texas and Washington state. Other Sacramento-area locations are 3541 N. Freeway Blvd., in Natomas; Westfield Galleria at Roseville, 1151 Galleria Blvd.; and Delta Shores shopping center, 8176 Delta Shores Circle, in Sacramento; and a newly opened location at 10823 Olson Drive in the Rancho Cordova Town Center.
