Jai Courtney Talks About Surprise Cameo In Suicide Squad

DC’s ‘Suicide Squad’ may be under a week away, but it hasn’t stopped star Jai Courtney discussing the film’s surprise cameo.

While speaking to Comicbook.com, Courtney, who plays Captain Boomerang in the David Ayer movie, was eager to talk about how one particular character fits into the movie and that he wasn’t even aware of his appearance until he saw the finished film.

Note: Minor spoilers to follow.

Courtney is of course referring to The Flash who features in ‘Suicide Squad’ when Boomerang was originally apprehended and imprisoned prior to being released under Nick Flag’s (Joel Kinnaman) command. But the pair didn’t act out any scenes together, as Courtney explains:

“I didn’t know [Ezra Miller] was in the movie until I saw the movie. It’s funny because I look back on it and I think ‘f***ing moron, of course that’s what’s happening.’ But even shooting that [scene] it didn’t occur to me… That was a little gem they were keeping.”

Whether the two never crossing paths was due to the use of special effects, scheduling or even because Ezra Miller wasn’t actually cast as Flash at the time is unclear, but with Flash featuring in Cap’s timeline, could he in turn feature in ‘The Flash’ solo movie?

“I don’t know. I don’t think there’s anything restricting it from happening. But it’s not a conversation I’ve had yet. It would be dope to [be in that film], I would love to. In this world, the potential to cross-contaminate is there. I’d love the opportunity.”

With the enormity of the cast as it stands - Margot Robbie, Will Smith, Viola Davis, Cara Delevingne, and Jared Leto to name a few - the list of cameos and supporting roles from the aforementioned Ezra as well as the likes of Ben Affleck mean ‘Suicide Squad’ is going to be a huge film.

Let’s just hope DC can pull it off like Marvel did with ‘Captain America: Civil War’ earlier this year.
