Jai Courtney has said that the rumoured reshoots of ‘Suicide Squad’ aren’t being done to make the movie 'funnier’.

The Australian star confirmed that they are taking place, however.

“I wouldn’t say we’re going back to make it funnier,” he told Entertainment Tonight.

“There’s some additional action stuff that we’ve been doing, which is pretty dope. Yeah, really, we’re just kind of adding in that sense.”

He added: “You can’t believe everything you read.”

It’s hard to know whether this is a good thing or a bad thing, however, suggesting as it does that the original shoot wasn’t perhaps action-packed enough.

It was rumoured that the reception of 'Batman Vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice’ and its overly dour tone brought on the reshoots for the forthcoming DC adaptation, said to be costing in the many millions.

An ‘excellent’ source on the film told the movie site Birth. Movies. Death. that 'every joke in the movie is in that trailer’, referring to the blazing 'Bohemian Rhapsody’-scored teaser which emerged in January.

The movie finds a team of supervillians brought together by a shadowy government agency to take on a deadly mission.

Courtney plays Boomerang, opposite Will Smith’s Deadshot, Robbie’s Harley Quinn, and Jared Leto’s Joker, alongside Enchantress (Cara Delevingne), Captain Boomerang (Jai Courtney), Rick Flag (Joel Kinnaman) and Killer Croc (Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje).

It’s due out in August.
