Jaguars fans just learned the lesson many a quarterback already knows: no matter how fast you are, Jadeveon Clowney is faster.
After Clowney called Jaguars quarterback Blake Bortles “trash,” Jaguars fans, flush with the unfamiliar sensation that is pride, started sending actual trash cans to NRG Stadium. Ha! Funny, right? Well, Clowney saw their demonstration and raised them an entire charitable effort.
Thank you @Jaguars fans for sending trash cans to NRG! It inspired me to fill them and an entire truck with toys to turn a negative situation into a blessing for some deserving women and children at @MissionOfYahweh #turningtrashintotreasure #merrychristmas pic.twitter.com/LamHoDSLEk

“Thank you Jaguars fans for sending trash cans to NRG!,” Clowney wrote. “It inspired me to fill them and an entire truck with toys to turn a negative situation into a blessing for some deserving women and children at @MissionOfYahweh.” Mission of Yahweh, per its Twitter description, is a “Houston faith-based shelter that empowers, enriches and restores the lives of homeless women and children and provides outreach services to low income families.”
It’s a great way to spin a goofy joke into something that brings actual benefits to people who could use them right about now. Nice work by Clowney and the Texans. Jags fans, better luck next time.
