Israel PM and Successor Embrace as Lawmakers Dissolve Knesset

Israel’s outgoing Prime Minister Naftali Bennett and Foreign Minister Yair Lapid embraced as lawmakers voted to dissolve the country’s parliament on Thursday, June 30.

Lapid will assume the position of caretaker prime minister from midnight until the next round of Israeli elections, which are set to take place on November 1.

The election will be the country’s fifth in three years.
