Iraqi book street attracts readers in Basra

STORY: The street is lined with a series of wooden book kiosks and outdoor lighting.

"The Farahidi cultural and book street is now entering its eighth year. It was founded in 2015 following the efforts of a group of youth and intellectuals in Basra," bookseller Abdelaziz Ali said.

Thanks to the dedication of the street's visitors and the support of local authorities and USAID, not only kiosks but also spaces for reading poetry or holding cultural events were developed.
