The final women's college basketball game of the season will take place Sunday afternoon as the LSU Tigers take on the Iowa Hawkeyes for the national championship

LSU earned its way into the final with a 79-72 victory over Virginia Tech in the national semifinal.

Alexis Morris scored 27 points and Angel Reese finished with 24 points and 12 rebounds for LSU, who will appear in their first national championship game. The Tigers took control with a 15-0 run in the fourth quarter after trailing by nine points entering the final 10 minutes.

LSU coach Kim Mulkey, who won three national championships in her 21 seasons at Baylor, got the Tigers back in the title hunt in just her second season at the school.

In the second semifinal, Cailtin Clark continued her dominant play by scoring 41 points and gave South Carolina their first defeat of the season, denying them a chance at a second straight national championship.

Clark, who has won three player of the year awards this season, also had eight assists and six rebounds, hitting 15 of 31 shots (5-for-17 from 3-point land).

Zia Cooke scored 24 points for South Carolina, who shot only 39% but outrebounded Iowa 49 to 25.  Aliyah Boston, last year's player of the year, was held to eight points.
