Injured Dan Hooker out of UFC 285 bout vs. Jalin Turner
Dan Hooker is out of UFC 285 after he suffered a hand injury in training, which leaves his fellow lightweight contender Jalin Turner without an opponent – for now.
A person with knowledge of the situation informed MMA Junkie of the change Wednesday but asked to remain anonymous as the promotion has yet to make an official announcement. MMA Fighting first reported the change.
The promotion is currently seeking a replacement fighter.
Turner (13-5 MMA, 6-2 UFC) rides a five-fight winning streak into the matchup. At UFC 276 in July, he quickly defeated Hooker’s City Kickboxing teammate Brad Riddell by submission. Other victories on the streak include Jamie Mullarkey and Uros Medic among others.
With the change, the UFC 285 lineup includes:
Jon Jones vs. Ciryl Gane – for vacant heavyweight title
Champ Valentina Shevchenko vs. Alexa Grasso – for women’s flyweight title
Viviane Araujo vs. Amanda Ribas
Bo Nickal vs. Jamie Pickett
Geoff Neal vs. Shavkat Rakhmonov
Derek Brunson vs. Dricus Du Plessis
Jalin Turner vs. TBA
Julio Arce vs. Cody Garbrandt
Marc-Andre Barriault vs. Julian Marquez
Kamuela Kirk vs. Esteban Ribovics
Farid Basharat vs. Da’Mon Blackshear
Jessica Penne vs. Tabatha Ricci
Mario Bautista vs. Guido Cannetti
