Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny spoilers ahead.

Phoebe Waller-Bridge had a "glorious" time smacking Harrison Ford in the face for Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny.

The fifth instalment of this iconic continent-hopping franchise is out now in cinemas, and in the grand finale, the star's character Helena Shaw manages to knock out her godfather Indiana Jones with one hefty punch.

"It's such a brilliant cut, and it's such an excellently scripted moment," Waller-Bridge told Entertainment Weekly.

"Particularly because there's so much fighting and left hooks and all that stuff all the way through the film, when she's just fighting the bad guys. But to have to level a punch to the hero of the film... It was glorious, because it was so funny."

The Fleabag creator went on to caveat: "Underneath, it really had heart and emotion. And that's really a testament to [director James Mangold] and the Butterworths [Jez and John-Henry] for writing a moment like that.

"I hope the audience understands why she does it."

Previously, during her exclusive interview with Digital Spy, Waller-Bridge recalled feeling chills on the visceral Dial of Destiny set.

"It was walking into the tomb at the end, and the detail, and the grandeur of it. The walls were wet and dripping, and there were these beautiful artefacts everywhere, and the lighting was stunning. It was truly huge," she marvelled.

"They build these sets, so it's an experience when you walk in. It's 360 [degrees]. I remember walking in there, and my character was meant to walk in and just look at everything in awe. And, my God, I did – I really got a chill."
