India vs Pakistan: T20 World Cup prediction, TV, live stream, UK start time, team news - preview today

Sunday afternoon brings a colossal clash at the T20 World Cup as India take on Pakistan in the latest instalment one of the fiercest rivalries in global sport.

Fraught political relations mean the two sides tend not to play each other outside of international tournaments and have not gone head-to-head in any format since their meeting at the 2019 World Cup in Manchester.

Both countries start their Super 12 stage campaigns in what is perhaps the most eagerly anticipated clash of the entire tournament prior to the knockout stages.

India come in as the favourites to lift the trophy, while Pakistan are - as ever - dark horses, packed with talent but also a fair dose of turbulence.

Date, UK start time and venue

India vs Pakistan is scheduled for a 3pm BST start today, Sunday, October 24, 2021.

The match will be played at the Dubai International Stadium.

India vs Pakistan team news

Plans for Virat Kohli to open the batting in his final tournament before standing down as T20 captain have been shelved, thanks in large part to the form of KL Rahul in the IPL, which means the skipper will revert to No3.

Much of the balance of India’s side will depend on whether all-rounder Hardik Pandya is fit to bowl.

Squad: Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, Suryakumar Yadav, Rishabh Pant, Ishan Kishan, Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Rahul Chahar, Ravichandran Ashwin, Shardul Thakur, Varun Chakravarthy, Jasprit Bumrah, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Mohammad Shami

Pakistan made several changes to their initial squad, with Shoaib Malik, Sarfaraz Ahmed, Haider Ali, and Fakhar Zaman all called up after originally being left out.

Babar Azam will lead from the front with the bat, while Shaheen Shah Afridi is expected to star with the ball.

India vs Pakistan prediction

Pakistan could well grow into the tournament to reach the latter stages but their preparation has been far from ideal, with managerial overhaul and cancelled tours.

By contrast, India’s entire squad have been playing in the IPL in the UAE and they showed their form by beating England in a warm-up this week.

India to win.
