'I'm a mess': Demi Lovato releases emotional song 'Still Have Me' after Max Ehrich breakup

Demi Lovato is using her music to let fans in on how she is doing since calling off her engagement to Max Ehrich.

The singer, 28, released the track titled "Still Have Me" on Twitter Wednesday, just days after the news broke about her breakup.

"Music is always there for me..." Lovato captioned the video.

In the song, Lovato talks about finding power within herself through challenging times.

"I'm a mess and I'm still broken / but I'm finding my way back," she begins the piano-filled track, before getting to the chorus. "It hurts to breathe / I don't have much but at least I still have me / and that's all I need."

She seems to directly comment on her relationship status in the second verse.

"Everything around me shattered / All the highs are now just low / But it doesn't even matter / Cause I'd rather be alone," she sings.

Lovato and Ehrich called off their engagement after two months, a person familiar with the situation but not authorized to speak publicly told the Associated Press Thursday.

The pair got engaged in July 2020 after the couple first started dating in March. Ehrich proposed on a Malibu beach on one knee in the sand. Lovato called it as the "best night of my life."

"You never pressure me to be anything other than myself," Lovato wrote afterwards. "And you make me want to be the best version of myself. I’m honored to accept your hand in marriage. I love you more than a caption could express but I’m ecstatic to start a family and life with you. I love you forever my baby. My partner. Here’s to our future!!!!"

Since the breakup, Ehrich has taken to social media to speak up about the situation.

"Imagine finding out," he started, "The status of your relationship through a tabloid," Ehrich wrote in white text on a dark backdrop on Instagram stories Saturday morning, alluding to his break up with the "Sorry Not Sorry" artist.
