ITV confirm I'm A Celebrity contestant tests positive for COVID-19

A contestant set to take part in the upcoming series of I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here has tested positive for COVID-19, ITV have confirmed.

The news comes just over a week before the 2020 series is due to hit screens.

The worldwide pandemic has already forced bosses to make the decision to switch from its usual Australian setting to a Welsh castle.

Confirming the news, a spokesperson for ITV told RadioTimes.com: “We can confirm that one member of the cast has received a positive COVID result and that individual is self isolating where we are giving them all the support that they need.

I’m A Celebrity has robust health and safety measures and protocols in place in order to operate safely within COVID-19 guidelines.”

The 20th installation of the hugely popular show is set to air next week, starting Sunday 15 November.

Though campmates have not officially been announced yet, we do know viewers will see well-known faces sleeping and living in a camp at Gwrych Castle in Abergele, north Wales.

It is expected fans will discover the line-up during a live special hosted by Ant and Dec called I’m A Celebrity - A Jungle Story.

According to rumours Strictly Come Dancing professional AJ Pritchard, could be joined by soap legend Shane Ritchie and Olympic-medal winning hero Sir Mo Farah.

Broadcaster Victoria Derbyshire and EastEnders star Jessica Plummer are also rumoured to be taking part.

I’m A Celebrity – a Jungle Story will also see Ant and Dec taking part in some of the show’s infamous bush tucker trials, presided over by former contestant Joel Dommett.

It will also see former contestants such as Carol Vorderman, Katie Price and David Haye reminisce about their time in the camp.

The show airs on ITV on Sunday (8 November) at 8.10pm
