Ice skating, Cowboy Santa and a parade. Christmas in the Stockyards has it all.

Ring in the holidays in style at the 21st annual Christmas in the Stockyards.

The celebration is set for Saturday, Dec. 3 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. throughout the Fort Worth Stockyards National Historic District.

Enjoy festive activities such as a holiday ice rink, photos with Cowboy Santa, story time with Mrs. Claus and more. Reindeer games, strolling Dickens carolers and cowboy poetry will add to the fun.

Of course, the Stockyards Christmas wouldn’t be complete without the parade. Check out horse-drawn wagons, trucks, antique automobiles, military units, marching units or bands and more.

Admission is free, but arrive early to find a parking spot. Visit fortworthstockyards.org/events/christmas-stockyards.

And if you haven’t been down to the Stockyards lately, you’re in for a surprise with the recent business boom. Some of the main attractions include Hotel Drover, Mule Alley and plenty of new bars and restaurants.

‘Edge of the Road’ art exhibit downtown

Go beyond the typical landscape scenes and take the path less traveled at “Edge of the Road,” an art exhibition exploring the spirit of the American West.

“Edge of the Road,” by photographer Jill Johnson and painter Daniel Blagg, continues through Jan. 7 at Artspace111, 111 Hampton St. in downtown Fort Worth.

The two Fort Worth artists have captured their unique perspectives of the American West with this exhibit. Faded roadside signs, iconic images and off-beat finds are portrayed.

Through her photos, Johnson creates a surreal world of symbols from landmarks often found along Texas highways and the back roads. Blagg’s paintings, meanwhile, depict a stark vision of a mostly bygone era.

Artspace111 is open Tuesday-Friday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. or by appointment. Go to artspace111.com or call 817-692-3228 for more information.

Holiday toy drive at UNTHSC

Bring your toy donations and holiday cheer as the University of North Texas Health Science Center at Fort Worth hosts a Toys for Tots Drive on Tuesday, Nov. 29 from 5 to 8 p.m.

The Texas Girls’ Choir will perform, and Santa will join in the festivities.

Please bring at least one new, unopened gift for needy children.

UNTHSC is holding the drive to help restock supplies for Toys for Tots, which recently donated 1,800 toys to HSC to give out at Remote Area Medical (RAM) on Dec. 3-4 at the Kay Bailey Hutchinson Convention Center in Dallas.

RAM clinics provide free medical screenings, vision services and dental care to those in need.

The HSC toy drive will be held outside the Gibson D. Lewis Library, at 955 Montgomery St.
