Scotland stunned fancied Bangladesh by six runs after Chris Greaves' magnificent all-round display for a dream start in the ICC T20 World Cup on an eventful Sunday night.

Greaves led a brilliant lower-order fightback with a 28-ball 45 as Scotland recovered from a hopeless situation to post 140 for nine in their first-round Group B opener of the T20 showpiece.

Earlier, Ludhiana-born Jatinder Singh smashed an unbeaten 73 as co-hosts Oman thrashed Papua New Guinea (PNG) by 10 wickets in the opening Group B first-round match of the T20 World Cup.

Courtesy Jatinder's 42-ball-knock and his opening partner Aqib Ilyas's 50 not out off 43 balls, Oman chased down a modest 130-run target in only 13.2 overs.

The matches will be held across four venues €" the Dubai International Stadium, the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi, the Sharjah Stadium, and the Oman Cricket Academy Ground €" with the final scheduled for Dubai on 14 November.
