HSBC Women's World Championship to return after 1-year hiatus with top golfers

SINGAPORE — The HSBC Women's World Championship golf tournament will return to Singapore's Sentosa Golf Club from 29 April to 2 May, after a one-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The elite competition will feature a top-tier field including world No. 1 Ko Jin-young, defending champion Park Sung-hyun, two-time winner Park In-bee, major winner Danielle Kang and LPGA Tour winner Minjee Lee.

Ko and Park Sung-hyun confirmed their participation on Monday (8 March), with Ko aiming to find the same form that propelled her to the top of the world rankings in 2019, when she had 12 top-10 finishes on tour including two Major wins (the ANA Inspiration and the Evian Championship).

Park, on the other hand, will be keen to add to her tally of seven LPGA Tour wins.

"I’m excited to be coming back to Singapore to defend my HSBC Women’s World Championship title. It was an exciting final day in 2019 and I managed to put in a strong fourth round to take the championship," the world No. 11 said in a media release.

"I had immense support out on course in 2019 so I’m looking forward to getting back out there and playing my best golf."

Widely regarded as "Asia's Major", the HSBC Women's World Championship will feature an elite field consisting the top-20 women's golfers in the world rankings and LPGA tournament winners.

The tournament will be a limited attendance event, with organisers working with the Singapore Tourism Board and relevant authorities to finalise health and safety protocols.
