How Different Will Marvel’s New Spider-Man Costume Be?

It’s the dawn of a new era when it comes to the future of ‘Spider-Man’ now Marvel has reclaimed the rights to the webbed hero.

The next incarnation - played by Tom Holland - will have, as you’d imagine, an updated spidey suit. ‘Captain America: Civil War’ directing duo Joe and Anthony Russo revealed just what the new Cap outfit will be like, and we can at least draw some comparisons to the new Spidey suit.

“It is a new costume we were trying to pull forward the work that we had done in ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’ on Cap. So, the innovations that we made to his costume in that form are very much the tonal texture that we are pulling forward.”

As you may have noticed, Cap did indeed undergo a big revamp of the famous costume with something a lot slicker and more modern, as you can see below.

Can we expect something drained of colour and more of a uniform for Peter Parker, perhaps?

”’Civil War’ is very much connected and rooted in ‘The Winter Soldier’. So, as far as the specifics of the costume, we don’t want to give too much away, but it is a new costume slightly different from what you’ve seen before. And it’s grounded in that ‘Winter Soldier’ tone.”

While the brothers don’t go into lots of detail, they do reveal enough that it will be updated enough to matter, just as we’ve seen them do before. We can therefore assume the Spider-Man look will be darker (in terms of colour too) and feel more grounded in a more believable reality from Sam Raimi’s and Marc Webb’s comic-y reboots.

No one’s actually seen what the new Spidey will look like just yet - unless you’re a Marvel insider, that is - but fans are optimistic that it’ll certainly look the part in the grounded world we’ve seen previously in ‘Captain America: The Winter Solider’. A more realistic (if there is such a thing) version of the Peter Parker hero would certainly be an interesting approach.

Fortunately, there’s not long to wait now, with a first glimpse likely to be with us within weeks. Our bet is that Marvel will have significantly touched up the existing suit and indeed the typical look of the character, having transformed Holland’s version into something much more adult than anything we’ve seen previously.

‘Captain America: Civil War’ is in UK cinemas from 29 April, 2016.
