PHILADELPHIA (AP) — The process needed to extract goalie Ivan Fedotov from both his Russian military and hockey commitments and finally land him in Philadelphia — nine years after he was drafted by the Flyers — remains largely shrouded in Cold War-era type secrecy. Flyers general manager Danny Briere stuck to silence on Fedotov's path to Philly as the goalie was introduced Friday to the team. “We'll just leave the details out,” Briere said. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) on Friday said it certified General Dynamics Corp's Gulfstream flagship G700 business aircraft, driving fresh competition in the top end of the market for luxury jets. Gulfstream had previously expected to obtain certification of the large-cabin jet, which competes with Canadian private planemaker Bombardier's Global 7500, in late 2023 and had planned to deliver 19 of the aircraft. "The Godmother" of Manhattan's go-to spot for everything bling has neither a cat nor cannolis, but she has cemented her position as a leading jeweler in a field dominated by men. Kerri Lavine, who earned her nickname after a photo captured her holding a cognac snifter in one hand and a cigar in the other, has been a longtime jeweler in the Diamond District, a strip of 47th Street between Fifth and Sixth Avenues that is home to over 2,600 businesses, according to the Diamond District Partnership, a business improvement coalition. Lavine, the co-owner of Diamanti NYC who has been a jeweler for over 43 years, told ABC News that her business has always been a hustle -- not only because she had to compete in one of the busiest jewelry shopping districts in the world, but also in an industry controlled by men.
She's next in line.

For a Minnesota minor league baseball team known for a history of outlandish promotions, the idea of naming its longtime live pig mascot after the weight loss drug Ozempic made perfect sense. The St. Paul Saints quickly found out that not everyone was amused by the pig's name, Ozempig, or the team's posting of a backstory about the pig's embarrassment at gaining weight and promise to try to remain trim. Almost immediately after the team announced the name this week ahead of Saturday's opening day game, criticism began pouring in on social media from people distressed by the name, calling it hurtful and insensitive.
