BOSTON (AP) — Chris Bassitt struck out a season-high 10 over seven effective innings and the Oakland Athletics beat the Boston Red Sox 3-2 on Tuesday night in a matchup of American League division leaders. Matt Chapman and Elvis Andrus hit RBI singles for the A's in the seventh inning as Oakland broke a 1-all tie with two runs. Matt Olson also had an RBI single for the A's, who opened six-game road trip with a victory. Yusmeiro Petit pitched a scoreless eighth and Jake Diekman got his fourth save despite walking two batters in the ninth. Rafael Devers homered for Boston, which has lost two straight since winning four in a row. Bassitt (3-2), whose previous high for the season was nine strikeouts on April 29 at Tampa Bay, allowed just three hits and two runs. He hurt himself in the first with a pair of wild pitches that helped Boston take a 1-0 lead. But he settled down nicely after J.D. Martinez's sacrifice fly, retiring 14 straight batters before Michael Chavis singled with one out in the sixth. Boston led 1-0 until the fourth, when Olson singled to drive in Seth Brown. Red Sox starter Nathan Eovaldi lasted six innings, holding Oakland to one run on two hits and two walks. He struck out four before Darwinzon Hernandez took over in the seventh. After Olson drew a leadoff walk, Jed Lowrie and Chapman followed with back-to-back singles as Oakland took its first lead. Hernandez (0-2) was replaced by Adam Ottavino with one out and runners at second and third. Boston caught a break when Sean Murphy hit a hard grounder to third and Devers came right home to catcher Christian Vázquez, who had Lowrie in a rundown and tagged him for the second out. Chapman scored on Elvis Andrus’ bloop single for a 3-1 lead. Devers' homer in the bottom of the seventh, his ninth of the season, pulled Boston back within a run. Fans booed when the umpire crew circled for a replay review, but the cheering resumed when replays showed the ball cleared the Green Monster before a fan touched it. TRAINER’S ROOM Athletics: C Aramís García (viral enteritis) is traveling with the club and could return to the roster this week, manager Bob Melvin said. … OF Chad Pinder (sprained left knee) continued a rehab assignment with Triple-A Las Vegas, where he played shortstop on Monday. Melvin said the A’s can play Pinder in the outfield or infield whenever he’s ready to return. “We’re going to play him in different positions like we always do and then once he gets here, we’ll figure out what we think the best complement is,” Melvin said. Red Sox: INF Kiké Hernández (right hamstring strain) and INF Christian Arroyo (bruised left hand) could be activated from the 10-day injured list by next week, manager Alex Cora said UP NEXT Athletics: RHP James Kaprielian gets his first start in the majors Wednesday. INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Domantas Sabonis had his ninth triple-double of the season and Caris LeVert added 24 points to help Indiana rally past Philadelphia 103-94 on Tuesday night, ending the 76ers' eight-game winning streak. Sabonis finished with 16 points, 13 rebounds and 15 assists as Indiana won for the third time in four games and clinched a spot in the play-in round.. Philadelphia's season-long winning streak was snapped and it prevented the 76ers from clinching the top seed in the Eastern Conference for the first time since 2000-01. A win or losses by the Milwaukee Bucks or Brooklyn Nets would have wrapped it up. Instead, Tobias Harris scored 27 points and Ben Simmons finished with 23 as Joel Embiid sat out with a non-COVID-19 related illness. Indiana trailed most of the first three quarters but rallied to take a 75-72 lead late in the third. After Philadelphia answered with an 8-0 run, the Pacers fought back to take a 94-92 lead with 3:49 left in the game and Indiana never trailed again. TIP-INS 76ers: Simmons also had eight rebounds and seven assists. ... Seth Curry had 10 points. ... Philadelphia scored only 32 second-half points and had only 13 in the third quarter. ... Philadelphia failed to pull off its first season sweep of the Pacers since 2004-05. ... The 76ers also played without Furkan Korkmaz (sprained right ankle) and Matisse Thybulle (sore left hand). Pacers: LeVert had seven rebounds and five assists. ... Doug McDermott finished with 20 points, Justin Holiday added 16 and T.J. McConnell had 10. ... The Pacers were 14 of 41 on 3-pointers. ... Indiana played its final back-to-back of the season, finishing 11-5 on the second night. ... The short-handed Pacers again played without Malcolm Brogdon (right hamstring), Jeremy Lamb (left knee), Edmond Sumner (left knee), Myles Turner (right foot) and T.J. Warren (left foot). ON A ROLL Sabonis has played his best basketball of the season since missing six games with a back injury. He came into the game averaging 26.0 points, 15.3 rebounds, 10.3 assists since May 1 and while he didn't pad those numbers Tuesday, he added another triple-double to his single-season franchise record. UP NEXT 76ers: Make their final regular-season road trip Thursday at Miami. Pacers: Host Milwaukee on Thursday in their second-to-last home game. ___ More AP NBA: https://apnews.com/hub/NBA and https://twitter.com/AP_Sports Michael Marot, The Associated Press

CHICAGO (AP) — Kevin Durant had 21 points and eight assists, and the Brooklyn Nets beat the Chicago Bulls 115-107 on Tuesday night despite Zach LaVine’s 41 points. Joe Harris added 17 points and Bruce Brown had 15 as Brooklyn won its second straight after a four-game slide. Chicago had its three-game winning streak — and probably its postseason hopes — end. Brooklyn, which lost guard Kyrie Irving to an apparent facial injury early in the second half, led 93-74 at the start of the final period and sat its starters for most of the period. LaVine, who had 12 points in the fourth, forced them back in by scoring eight straight to cut the lead to 102-91 with 4:54 to play. Durant and Jeff Green each had baskets in the final few minutes to keep the Bulls from rallying all the way back. Green added 14 points and Nicolas Claxton had 10 points and 10 rebounds. Chicago, in desperate need of a win, helped doom itself by staying under 40% from the floor until the final minutes. Coby White finished with 16 points and Nikola Vucevic added 12 points and 12 rebounds. The Bulls fell three games behind idle Washington for the final spot in the Eastern Conference play-in tournament and will need to win their final three and hope for help from either the Wizards or Indiana to secure a berth. Brooklyn, meanwhile, remains ahead of Milwaukee in the race for the second seed in the conference playoffs. The Nets had a double-digit lead before the game was four minutes old and kept the margin there most of the first half before going to intermission up 64-51. OUCH! Irving caught an elbow from Vucevic in the right side of his face when the two were going for a rebound early in the third quarter. He knelt to the floor as the play went the other way and walked to the dressing room after being helped off the floor by a trainer. He did not return to the game after scoring 13 points with five assists in 21 minutes. TIP-INS Nets: James Harden (right hamstring strain) missed his 18th straight game. Coach Steve Nash said he’s “hopeful” the nine-time All Star will play in one of the team’s final three games. … Brown wore a hard facemask after suffering a broken nose in a collision during practice. Bulls: C Daniel Theis started Tuesday after missing Sunday’s win over Detroit with a right hip contusion. UP NEXT Nets: Host San Antonio on Wednesday. Bulls: Host Toronto on Thursday. The complaint, filed in U.S. District Court in Newark on behalf of more than 200 Indian construction workers at the temple, alleges "shocking violations of the most basic laws applicable to workers in this country, including laws prohibiting forced labor."The suit, filed by five of the workers, accuses their employer, Bochasanwasi Shri Akshar Purushottam Swaminarayan Sanstha, or BAPS, and related entities of recruiting them in India, bringing them to the United States and forcing them to work on the temple for more than 87 hours a week for $450 a month, or about $1.20 an hour.New Jersey's minimum wage is $12 an hour and U.S. law requires the pay rate for most hourly workers rise to time-and-a-half when they work more than 40 hours a week. The suit says the workers were kept under constant watch and were threatened with pay cuts, arrest and return to India if they spoke to outsiders. On Tuesday, FBI agents visited the sprawling ornate temple in rural Robbinsville, just east of Trenton."We were there on court-authorized law enforcement activity," Doreen Holder, a spokeswoman for the Federal Bureau of Investigation field office in Newark, confirmed by telephone.Holder declined to say how many agents were on the premises or elaborate on their mission.A spokesman for BAPS, which describes itself as a socio-spiritual Hindu organization, issued a statement saying, "We were first made aware of the accusations this morning, we are taking them very seriously and are thoroughly reviewing the issues raised."The suit said the BAPS entities own the land where the temple was built and arranged for its construction. The temple has been open for several years, but work on extending it is ongoing. The plaintiffs, who claim to have worked on the temple as stone cutters and other construction workers as far back as 2012, said that in India, they belonged to the Scheduled Caste, formerly considered "untouchables" and socially ostracized.Once on their construction jobs, the complaint said "they were forced to live and work in a fenced, guarded compound which they were not allowed to leave unaccompanied by overseers affiliated with (BAPS)."The suit, which also claims the workers were falsely classified as religious workers and volunteers when they entered the country, seeks "the full value of their services" as well as unspecified damages and other compensation.
