New homes still available through Help to Buy ahead of October deadline

Ten years after it first launched, the Help to Buy scheme is coming to an end on March 31, 2023.

However, first-time buyers who want to take advantage of the scheme have just a few weeks left to reserve a property and apply, with the deadline for all applications at 6pm on October 31.

If you’re still considering going down this housing route, here are some of the final properties still left to buy.

Watermark, Maidenhead

The Watermark development by Countryside is a 10-minute walk from Maidenhead train station which, due to the arrival of the Elizabeth line, means owners can reach Paddington in 35 minutes and eventually will be able to reach Bond Street in 39 minutes.

The developer is also offering its Move for Free incentive, allowing buyers to save over £15,000 by paying for stamp duty and legal fees. Prices start from £295,000 for a one-bed apartment with a balcony or terrace.

Verdo, Kew Bridge

Buyers at EcoWorld London’s Verdo development in Kew Bridge will benefit from a range of facilities, such as concierge services, residents’ lounge (including social and work areas), a private dining space and meeting room, a fully equipped gym, and private landscaped gardens.

Set alongside the River Thames, there’s a walking route along one bank leading you to the 139-acre Syon Park in one direction, and the Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew in the other. And, with Kew Bridge station moments away and Gunnersbury Tube station just a 10-minute walk away, buyers are only a short journey away from the variety of central London locations.

There are five two-bedroom apartments with Help to Buy available, prices starting from £630,000.

If you’re keen to move in straight away, there are currently 16 apartments at Galliard’s Orchard Wharf in London’s Docklands on sale with Help to Buy with immediate move-in available.

Buyers will benefit from access to an on-site café, an outdoor pavilion, courtyard gardens, two recreational areas, as well as landscaped rooftop terraces. One-bed flats start from £470,000.

London Square, Watford

London Square Watford is currently offering first-time buyers who reserve a home at their special Help to Buy event on September 17 an incentive package worth up to £9,000.

Buyers will receive a £4,000 contribution towards utility bills over two years, £100 a month towards grocery shopping for two years and service charge paid for two years.

Help to Buy is still available on one and two-bedroom apartments at the Watford development, located two miles from the town centre, with fast train links into the city taking just 23 minutes. Prices start from £299,995 for a one-bed.

The West Works, Southall

Located in sought-after West London, The West Works in Southall by developer Redrow still has one- and two-bedroom apartments with Help to Buy available. All buyers have access to a communal roof terrace with views overlooking the capital.

And, with the arrival of the Elizabeth line, residents will be able to access Liverpool Street in 24 minutes and Canary Wharf in half an hour.

What’s more, Redrow is offering customers who purchase with Help to Buy a range of incentives including stamp duty paid and a £500 travelcard if you reserve a property this month. Prices start from £346,000 for a one-bed with Help to Buy.

The Gade, Hemel Hempstead

For those looking for a commutable and affordable home, check out housebuilder Hill’s development, The Gade. Located in the centre of Hemel Hempstead’s old town, overlooking the River Gade, this development of one- and two-bedroom apartments offers the best of both town and country life, with the capital only 30-minutes away on the train.

There are only four apartments left and the developer is currently offering to cover the cost of your utility bills for a year if you reserve a Help to Buy home during September. Prices start from £272,500 for a one-bed apartment with private outdoor space.
